Within a Day
do you ever question a day?
the way the sky blushes
crimson, pinkish-lavender
or orange tones
yet the sun always rises
the same shade of bloody-red
above waves of crested seas
the way the clouds appear
sometimes as if delicately painted
with the tip of an artist's brush
yet other times puffy
like a cotton ball project
from elementary school
that hung on the fridge
it resembled nothing
but everyone took a guess
at what they thought they saw
the way the wind whispers
softly through trees
with leaves dancing
pirouetting down
then picking back up
floating in the breeze
yet other times it whips
through the trees
snapping branches
or knocking them down
the way the sea waves
sometimes gently kissing the sand
leaving little treasures
as it recedes back
with a relaxing ebb and flow
yet other times lashes out
in a violent rage
like a jealous lover
reclaims the sand
and leaves destruction
in its wake
do you ever question a day
before the edge of night falls
look around and wonder
or is it just me?
