With Open Arms

I came to you with open arms
fell in love with all your charms
before they turned a witch's brew
with open arms, I came to

passion can hide the truth of things
an evil heart and what it brings
when hearts of light and dark collide
the truth of things passion can hide

though short and brief our love was fire
we escaped the world with our desire
between our hands, we held our grief
our love was fire, though short and brief

love can be a boiling kettle
where ebbs and flows can unsettle
making lovers too blind to see
a boiling kettle, love can be

you offered me a damaged love
wormwood filled at the mercy of
it fell apart for me to see
a damaged love, you offered me

Heartache of lost love hurts terribly, even if what was offered was damaged. Comparing it to wormwood was metaphorically sound. My best to you in the swap quatrain contest, Frederic.
