FIRST PLACE

With Fingers Crossed

     I stand with
fingers crossed tightly.
       Will today be better ?
I do try very hard each new day,
but, I always fail . . .
God, can you not see the tears that I weep?

Yet, I feel a fire within me
telling me to try,
in a different way.
            To keep moving forward
and never dwell in regrets
let yesterdays flutter away,
    live in moments,
        on the journey.
And if I should fail,
begin again with fingers crossed !

Oh, so many hidden layers,
too many tosses and turns,
so many mistakes made,
high mountains to climb ~ 
Why even bother ?
But, a voice inside me says keep trying.
Is that you God . . .   speaking ?

        I was
            shattered
              when my dad passed away -
h  e  a  r  t     b  r  o  k  e  n
and when mom went also
            I was lost in myself.
Like a balloon floating and drifting
              in the blue sky . . . 
with no anchor to hold me down.

But, mom whispered from death
I made you strong and brave daughter !

Let life unfold,
        float on earth's endless waves,
start a new page,
find your voice and purpose,
accept that life changes, passes.
           Always seek that fire
. . . burning deep within ~

      and keep trying with fingers crossed !

She is the reason I am a writer, inspiring me to take this journey, gave me ... my first journal and pen, read everything I wrote. Listened to me read my poems with pride, then, in the end I wrote her Eulogy~
