Wistful Love

I remember when she looked at me
And the smiles that garnished her face
I always wondered if she could see
How she made my heart race

She was an exuberance that brought me joy
Even when I was sad or deeply depressed
But I made my best effort to always play coy
Always wondering what if I had confessed

I hadn't felt so strongly in such a long time
But she slipped away like sand in the breeze
To steal her affection would have been a crime
And now my heart has begun to freeze

Forevermore in my heart is to be wistful love
But the reality is I am not her destined dove

Beautiful poem Christopher! She slipped away meaning she just went or passed away? Debx

Not dead fortunately! It was meant metaphorically since we've kinda gone our separate ways.
