Wistful

Micro Poem - 4/29/25 Seventeen Words
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wistful
Winter flees on
 Pensive wings
Leaving behind ephemeral ice
Longs to taste warm sunlight -
 Inhale lilac’s perfume.
Short but beautiful, and definitely wistful, Sam. Feels as if winter wishes that at least once in a lifetime it could change places with spring and experience what nature has to offer. ~ Regards // paul
Hi Paul! That is exactly what I wanted to express! Your feedback is so affirming and I am so grateful. I had the mental of picture of winter looking over its shoulder to see if it could possibly experience one day of spring! Thank you for your read! Sending you blessings of joy!
Hi Andrea! Thank you so much. Had fun thinking about the pensive mood of winter so wanting to experience the warmth and beauty of spring but knowing that could never happen! I think I forgot to enter it in the contest! Oh, well! Have a wonderful three day weekend! Blessings.
Just lovely .. It’s been so warm here in Contra Costa like 80° …Sam! The most powerful line was the last two! You personified winter. How clever and cool. Thank you, Sam. Pangie
Hi Pangie! Thank you for your lovely feedback! Somehow I feel winter’s regret at not seeing or experiencing the beauties of spring - winter looking back over its shoulder. I’m so glad you liked this poem. It was fun to create. Sending you blessings and Easter joy.
