Wishing

Wishes.
Sometimes people wish
for things to benefit
themselves
which is all well and good,
I suppose

But what if you
wanted to wish
for something else
maybe for a friend
or for a friend you haven't
even met yet

But if I had just one wish
I'd wish
for the world to be a better place
not just for me
but for all of the people
out there fighting

Fighting for freedom
or maybe equality

I'd wish it on the people
caught in the crossfire
losing everything they have
for a war they never wanted

But I'd wish it
on the people I hate, too

Because everybody deserves
a chance
at seeing the world at peace
with clean air
and happy people
and at a universe
