Wishful Thinking

Have you ever tried to reach and touch a star,
those tiny twinkling specks that seem so far?
Or step across and walk on Rain's big bow
and sit and watch the world move down below?

Ever felt the wind and wondered where it goes,
this familiar friend that no one sees or knows?
Or tried to keep a snowflake in your hand,
to see God's art up close and understand?

Have you ever wished to pull back time,
those huge hands that hold what's yours and mine?
Would you like yesterday to be tomorrow
and change a dark day to joy from sorrow?

Maybe wishes are better left in dreams,
instead of the light of the Sun's cruel beams.

I loved getting lost within the wistful yet vibrant musings of your deep, enchanting and thought provoking introspection, Wren. So beautifully imagined and expressed. Congratulations on your wonderful win my dear friend. Warmest wishes always.. ~Susan

There is an innocence, a childlike voice in the stanzas asking deep questions (as children often do). But, then the speaker shakes himself and in the adult voice we hear the closing lines... Very nicely done! Enjoyed every line!
