Wishes

It doesn't matter if I'm asleep or awake
Dreaming is my constant state
Visions of my deepest wants
Of love and home forever taunt
The things I want but cannot have
For one reason or another I cannot grab
My deepest needs ever out of reach
What is this yearning supposed to teach
The only lesson I've learned so far
That it is useless to wish upon a star
My dreams and wishes forever grow
But wishing for a thing does not make it so

That last line is killer; loved it! I see a lot of you in me in your work; perhaps I have found another poetic kindred spirit. I would tighten up the rhythm, smooth out a few wrinkles here and there in flow and perhaps reword a line or two, but as I said to you before: these little things do not, in any way, detract from the beauty and sentiment expressed. You, my dear, have true talent, and I am enjoying reading your work :)

I always say dreaming keeps us alive, without the hope of wishes and dreams where would we be? I enjoyed this piece, it made me reflect back at my own life and makes the reader look around them and ponder thoughts! Good write!
