Wish List

You never would
Have forgotten to
Attend a meeting
I scheduled for you --

Even when it would
Amount to nothing
You were there
Present and trusting
My judgement

Even when I didn't
Deserve it --
Even after I'd
Hurt you.

Today I missed
You more than
I usually do
(Which I do
All the time).

And I think about
How easy it was
To be in your company.
And how fascinating
Every word that you
Uttered seemed to me.
And how fast your
Mind worked.
And how hard you
Tried to be helpful.

To help me.

And I know that
Tonight
Like every single
Other night
Since I failed to
Tell you all of these
Secrets
I'll weep a little
Wishing
You'd find this
Poem...
Then call.
