Wintry Glaze

The first day of spring arrived one week ago
Leaving winter behind like a shadow

Mornings after were filled with sunlight
Dancing daffodils and budding trees in highlight

But winter won’t give up the fight so easy
Weatherman calls for rain, it’s now freezing

As the spring rains first begin to flow
Prayers go out that there will be no snow

Forgetful of the most harsh winter days
We didn’t pray to miss the icy glaze

This morning in awe I stepped out to find
Winter has left one last mark for the time

Like beautiful crystal it hangs off the trees
Coating like glass all that one sees

It sparkles like firelight reflecting sun’s rays
This most wondrous icy wintry glaze

So winter made one final call, huh? The best way to enjoy its wonders is inside looking out, or wrapped up on a walk. Skiers might enjoy it too, but not drivers! Well done Lena!! Best wishes, Keith

It's snowing here again. With the threat of more flooding we have a bit of a different perspective. Our prayers certainly go out that there will be not too much more. Nice use of rhyme and imagery to convey your thoughts. Keep on writing. Thank you for your kind words on my poem. Blessings to you. Karen

What a beautiful image of the magical glaze that only rain on frozen trees can paint. You make me long for winter, but it is 70 degrees here (in the middle of a "cool" front), the azaleas and fruit trees are dancing with color. Thank you for sharing your marvelous description of a "Wintry Glaze." And you have Soup Mail. Love, Carolyn

Beautiful to look at but scary to drive in. Your words paint such a lovely picture, even though stubborn winter will not quite let go. Nice work. Love, Shar
