Winters Eve
The day pales, kept alive only by the radiance of the snow
Fading rays cascade across the pristine fields
Casting shades of pink and blue in final tribute to the day
Barren trees, ice coated, catch and reflect the pastel hues
Their shadows reaching out in search of evening
Bidding farewell, the sun rests its head upon
The bed of clouds, just beyond the horizon
Sinking slowly behind the distant hills
Drifting into night, wrapped in darkness
Dreaming of a bright tomorrow
