Winter Winds
from where does the winter wind blow?
Arctic, Norway, or states below?
to shower snow and winter chill,
then from here to where does it go?
lumps of loose snow from white trees spill,
as rows of cypress climb up hill,
Robins twitter their red chests out,
from wooden fence near old wind mill!
lone heron waits, a one leg scout,
on freezing lake with coloured trout,
time it will be soon to migrate,
across mountain peaks far about!
few floundering leaves still debate,
changing seasons, their unknown fate,
winter winds ensnare them in snow,
to pile them amongst garden waste.
dazzling winter has morning glow,
how it speeds past! doesn’t it slow?
from where it came we do not know,
wherever it goes, let it go!!
