Winter Winds

from where does the winter wind blow? Arctic, Norway, or states below? to shower snow and winter chill, then from here to where does it go? lumps of loose snow from white trees spill, as rows of cypress climb up hill, Robins twitter their red chests out, from wooden fence near old wind mill! lone heron waits, a one leg scout, on freezing lake with coloured trout, time it will be soon to migrate, across mountain peaks far about! few floundering leaves still debate, changing seasons, their unknown fate, winter winds ensnare them in snow, to pile them amongst garden waste. dazzling winter has morning glow, how it speeds past! doesn’t it slow? from where it came we do not know, wherever it goes, let it go!!

Thanks John! But essential for the environment! I love parts of it, but fear most of it.

Winter can be beautiful but also dangerous, I like that you show both sides in your poem (I try to avoid snow as much as possible!) Congratulations on your win in the contest~

WOW! Krish, your Rubaiyat is amazing! Your word-choices and descriptions are truly fantastic! Winter is really harsh where I live, but still I particularly enjoy the serenity of snowfall. BW ~ Mala

Thanks Mala! Christmas snow is good but adds a lot of work for me afterwards!! Just enjoy the cooler weather and walks and warm food. adequate clothing is the key!

Nicely-composed and written, Krish. I enjoyed reading it, but I'm afraid I'm not a fan of winter...so, I particularly enjoyed the very last line! Good luck in the contest.

Thanks Milton! I like parts of it but do not like snow as it makes my travel difficult. always look eagerly forward to February for early spring!
