Winter Keeps Springing Up

Daffodils blooming,
Robins tweeting in trees,
Pollen is looming,
Sky falling like seas.

Atlanta’s warming -
Bless it’s peachy heart.
Isn’t it charming,
The chill will not part.

Can’t put my clothes away.
Winter keeps springing up.
My woollen socks sashay.
Taunt of sweaters: “Wuz up?”

Kids hop, skip and jump,
The joy of April,
Let go of the slump -
Could be they’re grateful…

Tender leaves unfold,
Sun is inviting,
But on the threshold,
The cold’s still biting.

Can’t put my clothes away
Winter keeps springing up
My woollen socks sashay
Taunt of sweaters: “Wuz up?”

Yeah. Fits and starts for most Springs... although I think finally we've turned the corner in Chicago this week. (Wait 'til May, though. Oy!)... Keep those earmuffs handy!

I know how you feel, Kim. We are having the same problem up here in Wisconsin. Temperatures are expected to be in the 80's this week, then will fall back into the 50's... Sending warm wishes for an early spring! Keep up the wonderful writing!

I loved lines, such as 'my woolen socks sashay,' and 'sky falling like seas,' and 'Atlanta's warming-Bless its peachy heart.' Very creative and lovely, Kim. :)

Loved the title of your poem Kim! So true it is!! We are experiencing the same weather types in California this year due to the heavy rains. One day it is nice and sunny with daffodils blooming the other day is cold and rainy. Enjoyed reading your poem.
