Notes About The Poem

Stay warm and safe dear poets

Winter in Carolina

Oh my gosh where is the sun
It’s cold as North Pole today
My nose runs this is no fun
They’re calling for sleet they say

I drank myself a peach hot tea
It was warm traveling down
My throat so cold with chilly feet
Abandoning my errands in town

Was gonna go grocery shop
But cancel that today buddy
Venture outside I will not
Slow cooker beans in the cubby

Days like this I feel for kids
Walking to school even if delayed
For Old Man Winter has a trick
Throwing frozen fog in the way

Please watch out for the buses
School kids will be crossing the street
Jack Frost talks and he cusses
If you ever had frost bitten feet

I’m a North Carolina native lady
Deep in the Bible Belt
Hoping that all stay warm and maybe
You can visit after the melt

Great poem, Jack Frost sounds like a tough guy, but I wouldn't mind peach tea, and slower cooker beans.

Make every effort to stay warm this winter, Karen. Impressive poetry. I guess the place is beautiful. Winter has been unusually mild in Utah.

When Jack Frost plays his tricks, going out is a real menace. One would be tempted to stay indoors. I live in a tropical country where snow is a strange phenomenon. We have snow only in some areas of high altitude. Well written.

Great poem I bet it's pretty there. Utah has had warm winters this past decade compared to how it was in the old times. I like Utah winters much more than my Iowa. Childhood ones!

Yes it is pretty as we have lots of trees and it’s clean. I know nothing about Utah or Iowa weather! Sounds like you have nice childhood memories! Thanks for sharing!
