Winter In Canada

Fall's golden beauty- faded and blew away the wild winds howled and clouds filled November with filigree snowflakes- that did not stay November was foreboding, and December was filled with days of white January, is a cold spell, February, well there will be a melt- a brief break from the dark the green grass will peek out the decayed leaves will lay dead- but, nature's rest is not quite finished yet again, the snow will come to us and frozen days once more will repeat- with ice, and drifts to climb winter came early to the city, woods and streams with frozen fingers wrapping tight yet, in the bare frozen trees of winter tiny sparrows still sing and squirrels scamper up the tree trunks- their nests lined with my outdoor rug today, delicate snowflakes taps on my window- melting into raindrops yet, it is still frigid winter in Canada- __________________________ January 11, 2020 Poetry/Imagism/Winter in Canada Copyright Protected, ID 20-1215-749-03 All Rights Reserved, 2020, Constance La France Written for the contest, FTI Blog Series - Special Winter Brian Strand Podium Place 1

Loved your imagery Constance, I could feel the chill. That said I do love to see the first snow of winter. None here yet but forecast. Hope your new year off to a good start. Tom
