Winter Be Gone
Winter, when you first arrived, you were such a treat!
How You teased our hearts; you never missed a beat!
The children reveled in your promise of snow
And at first sign of flurries little faces came aglow
Come nights, they were tucked in bed warm and tight
While you squarely laid your carpet of pure white
You hung icicles for garlands as you trimmed the trees
As snowmen and angels guarded the streets
While I’m grateful for each visit this time of year
Boredom's now settled in; there’s no more room here
How I yearn for bright sunshine; to walk bare feet in the house!
O, winter, be gone! Spring fever is roused.
