Winds of the Night
Oh winds upon the starry night
Hum sweet a song for me
A delicate song in the mistless light
On the emerald sparkling sea.
Pluck now that ripe old sadness
That bitter tune of despair
Drift me upon the fields of gladness
By the budding tree most fair.
Which by the bubbling crystal fountain
Would await to hold your tender hands
That ascends to the lulling mountain
And on the gentle breast of verdant lands.
Where neither haunt nor woe does creep
From your comely songs in moonlight
And before my lover is fast asleep
Please blow her a kiss goodnight.
