Window On the Sky

WINDOW ON THE SKY
This old man of bright eyes I had met more than once Sitting alone by the window looking intently outside The twilight hues gleaming on his creased countenance Reflected the flashes of content life with pristine pride. He didn’t remember the time he had started the journey Toiled and climbed up the hill while building the future Ambition of double-digit horse power gave him the energy At the apex of success fulfillment couldn’t have been greater. At sunset from the shadow of glorious days that had gone far When he asked me do birds at dusk fold sunshine in their wings I could never consider his intentions were naïve and unclear He wanted to keep in cold night all the warmth memory brings. As the cold sun sinks in the horizon and time passes you by See colors of the past through the open window on the sky.
