Wilted like a flower

Found this on my phone I wrote this poem one night I was thinking of Mum.Will be 11 yrs in October Mum went home to Heaven. Memories are wonderful things.

" Wilted like a flower "

Mum was cold,still,so lifeless
'She looked like a sweet sleeping doll'
Left to gather dust
Breath snuffed out of her
Gone, gone, gone
Why, why, why ?
'I cry like a newborn baby'

Look at her now 'dead as a doornob'
Laughter ceased, smile gone
'Time stood still'
No more, " I love you Dorothy !!", "Goodnight, thanks for everything"
Didn't like,' the ashen pale of death'
No more nagging my head off
Just, one more day, please I sobbed
I'll never complain again.

Life is way too short
'Screams like a child out of control'
I kissed her forehead, still warm, moist
Refused to say goodbye
Hate that word, so final
Instead I whispered 'soft as a mouse'
Good- night Mum, till we meet again
On heaven's shore

Three years almost since that day
Life goes on,pain still stays 'empty as a glass'
You'd be proud of me Mum
I never quit, I felt like it many times
There's that fighter in my spirit
Knocked down, but never knocked out

Flying high on eagles wings
'Soaring like a graceful bird'
To new heights of joy
Proud of me up there in heaven
' I'm knocking on heavens' door
"Mark my words "
A writer I'll be, my books in print
You'll see

You live on in my heart forever
' Love sounds beating out like a drum'
Feel the rythum in my soul
You taught me from a child
To love life,' seize every moment'
' Wake up smell the roses, sweet perfume'
'Dancing in the rain'
" I write from my heart," 'like poetry in motion'
Yeah, music is my passion
Sees me through the toughest of days
The 'language of my soul', for sure

Music liberates me, it sets me free
Death is not the end
A new beginning, mingling with life
Your all around me, ' like a free falling fluffy white feather'
'Like the robin that lands at my feet
'Death hurts like hell', much pain
It's part of the journey of life
'No pain, no gain' as saying says
You died, you live on in.me
'Like a circle has no end'

Death is black
Life is rainbow, every colour counts
Entertwining, 'shinning like a light in the darkness'
Enjoy life, learn from death
I have !!
Walking in sunshine
Feeling over the moon
'Flying high as a kite'
Jumping for joy, 'like a jack-in-the-box'
No matter what comes my way
I'll seize every single day
Help me, Lord I pray

A very loving poem, sorry to hear of your mother's passing. I am close to mine, but not as close as my sisters who live right next door to her.

This is beautiful, tender and touching... I would be lost without my mum and dread to think about the day she will leave,... Is it selfish to want to die before my mum? Your poem would be an excellent piece for spoken word, but not sure you can do it without crying.. I wrote a poem about taking my mum shopping to Aldi, every Sunday.... i had to stop reading it after a while.... You write very well...

Thank you for such encouragement SO. I understand how you feel about your mum. I was the same infact last 4 yrs of mums life I cared for her. When she passed I didn't know how to cope as I had all my time caring for Mum. Had to go for CBT counselling to learn how to take my life back.

Sorry for your loss. My Mom died 5 years ago. I couldn’t say much when she hd her very short hospice stay. She never woke up. I fingered the cross on her chest. Surely she knew…felt my presence. I felt most protective of my Dad. My youngest sis spoke more. We were only allowed in the room 2 at a time…so Dad was always there.
