Wild Flowers For My Love

if i died tonight
i’d have wild flowers
i’d wish i’d gathered
fields i’d wish i’d run
seas i’d still long to sail

unfinished business
unsent birthday cards
unsung melodies and
unpainted flowers on
unstarted canvases askew

i’d have poems still unwritten
but i’d mostly have the memory of you
savoring the last words
i’ve said a million times before
how i’d always and forever love you
forever and a day
