Wichita Flats

Wichita Flats was a town that was once out west long ago. Just a sage brush or two is all that remains now. Dance halls thrived there from one end of town to the next. A Cyclone came to town one day, carried the town, clear across Kansas and beyond, now Wichita Flats rests at top of Pikes Peak, for all to see. written 4-23-11

So many ghost towns fill America, James. I can think of no more scenic location that at the top of Pike's Peak. When tornadoes or hurricanes flatten today's cities, they are usually rebuilt. But in the old West, people just moved on. I would have like to see this town in its heyday! Enjoyed your thought-provoking poem. Best wishes, Carolyn
