Why Remind Columbine?

Happy Anniversary? Annual "remembrance" and contemplation... Why the highlights of these low times? Absent minded ,heartless hate crimes debased insane lost children wielding weapons Lets spike the ratings...point lenses at this loss cover the whole like bitter unfeeling frost Compassionate~~ is how they come across.. yet the exposure compounds the occurrences amplifies minor disturbances Attention turns inward angst to outer turbulence Focus on outside stimuli, asking why? Creating worlds of total shallow souls that buy training minds to not see beyond those lines making name-brand zombies quick to ostracize those not fitting these molds you made those not finding a square role to play not conforming then transforming, morphing struggling deflection defeats never absorbing But what of the war fought at home? Parents loathing life leaving children alone human nature is part inherent/ part learned priorities made the tide turn, not teaching made the sky burn... Do you believe life's value has diminished in the eyes of children or they have no perception of what we haven't taught them???

Hi Steve... Impressive writing my friend.. love the line.."training minds to not see beyond those lines making name-brand zombies quick to ostracize".. "Do you believe life's value has diminished in the eyes of children or they have no perception of what we haven't taught them???" ... master stroke... there is only one culprit in the demise "capitalism" ... great poem Steve !

Some sh.t makes me angry ... the hypocrisy inthe culture of death about the pattern of death deliberately bred and created for stupid selfish reasons of hedonistic pleasures, then its consequence and tragedy packaged and sold as news, commercializing grief ... the same as laughing shamelessly at the death thing. Great write, one love and peace.

Whatever happened to the good old family? It was sold out for convenience, things, and free time. And the children sufffer most...not knowing...just as you have said. This poem is very significant. How do we fix things? Maybe awareness- Maybe the economy will.... Always, Dane

The anniversary observations of the Columbine shootings must renew the wounds inflicted on the students' families. I'd like to think the news coverage is an effort to prevent future occurrences like this, but I fear you are right about "spiking the ratings." Such a tragedy. Excellent writing, Steve. Love, Carolyn

some Master poet should enter this into Something Wicked This Way Comes...for if this is not a clear indication of wickedness what is? LIGHT & Love

Well, you hold the answer right in your last paragraph, and the very last line is wow. Cynical write, as it should be, holding sad truths. Pretty depressing alright, the whole thing. Your writing though, another story. Always outstanding. Love, Shar

I though the same thing when I heard about this anniversary nonsense..who wants a reminder of this nonsencial episode..who wants to relie the horror of those who died that day...anything for ratings..well written brother.
