Why Now?

Why Now?
You came to see me when I’m old; why now?
Why not when I was young and bold? Why now?
I lost my luster, my life, my love.
I’m rusty with age, nothing like gold; why now?
My youth has gone; you’re asking for what?
How many times should I tell you I’m old? Why now? 
There was a time that I begged to hold your hands
Now I’m shaking and weak, nothing to hold; why now?
My yesterdays were spring, summer, and fall.
Today, my cold winter remains untold; why now?
You assume that I am what I was that day.
I’m telling let it go, none to be told, why now?
You want to buy my love as it’s worth that day,
Trust me; it’s gone, worthless to be sold; why now?
Do you remember “Haloo,” what it was? And now,
If you open your eyes, our minds unfold; why now?

This was an engaging ghazal, that pulled me in. A dose of, "a little too late" in poetic form. I'm reminded me of a quote I've heard awhile back: "Don't wait for me to die to bring me flowers" ... I get the same feeling in your opening couplet. Time is of the essence ... appreciate the reminder!

Thanks Tim, Since I was very young, I realized that I have to distinct personality. One was always old "Haloo" recited poetry and loved literature, one was young at the time “Pashang” and loved science and studied it and taught it for years. Haloo is the one that is doing the poems. Now they are both the same age. Pashang is retired from teaching! Haloo is still around. I ‘ll tell you more later.
