Why ----------- I

Why?
                         Ended
                    World War Two
                   L I B E R A T E D
                 From Dachau Asking
                  Just One Question
                      Millions Died
                        Why Not
                             I?

                             I,
                      God Plucked
                     From Millions
                  TO S A N C T I F Y
                     The Ineffable
                    His Name Above
                      Theirs Below
                       That's Why
                             I!

Such a thought provoking, powerful write! In 2008, I visited Auschwitz with many history students. I shall never forget that earth moving visit. Thank you for this always necessary reminder of tragic loss + brutal inhumanity. Best wishes, Brian

a very creative way to answer that question, Gershon. I somehow landed way back on this one and I am glad I did

Yes, very interesting how this happened. Just one question, Andrea: "Why?!" ~ Smiles, Gershon

Thank you for visiting my site, and for your kind words about the poem. (Although I was born after Hitler died, much of my family perished in the gas chambers, and I do feel 'plucked by God' from the fire to sanctify His Name on their behalf). Best wishes always, gw

"I, why?" the world's shortest poem - I believe you have answered, and quite well!

Thank you, Line. I am pretty pleased at how this one turned out, esp. since it came to me Friday night, and I had to keep it in my memory til 9:30 p.m. Saturday night. (I don't do any creative labor of any type on the Sabbath). It worked out quite well for all that, methinks. Thank you for your kind words. :) gw
