Notes About The Poem

Why Have You Left Me

"From deep within my heart I always catch the scent of my Beloved. How can I help but follow that fragrance?" Quote By _ Rumi

Once we were a happy pair of doves Seeking warmth under each other’s wings By sundown, we flew to our little nest In our sweet space, we sought easeful rest Even when the Earth’s in full glory Now I bide alone, dull and dreary Oh! Dear! Why have you so hurriedly left me? Was it to make me drift in this turbulent sea? We have known life’s depth and worth Each morn, for us was love’s rebirth We walked close to paths supernal And lived ever in love eternal I have lost the rhyme n’ rhythm of life I see the world around with sorrows rife I, a broken reed far beyond repair With no songs to be played now or ever Each flower recalls to me your sweet grace The wind tossed petals remind me of your sad face On silent nights the fragrance of your hair Comes wafting, and for a while, I feel you near A boundless emptiness now fills my space The question –‘What next’ stares at my face Yet never shall I falter, but shall endure my fate Hoping, we shall meet at Heaven’s Rainbow Gate July.22.2022 ~ Placed First~ Words. 189 Rhyme Rumi Poetry Contest Sponsor- Sotto Poet

Valsa, your poem is both beautiful and poignant. “I have lost the rhyme n’ rhythm of life I see the world around with sorrows rife” these lines express that kind of pain brilliantly. Congratulations on having this wonderful poem honored with First Place. It is very deserving. Blessings xxoo

Dear Connie, your lovely comment is much appreciated. Losing one's love is more painful than can be expressed in words. Though this is fictional, you could enjoy it as you have experienced the pangs of parting ! Thanks a lot dear friend...
