Why Do You Read Me

Why do you read me?
Surely not for the artistry of the words
They are not flowery
Or veiled in mystery
They speak in tones of mediocrity
For profound they are not
Simple, simple words
Honey coated, perhaps
Is that why you read?

Why do you read me?
Is it because you want to live
An alternate life
Where love and passion
Are a surging sea
Always tumultuous
Always pounding
Surging
Free
Is that why your read?

Why do you read me?
Is it because you want a peek
Where all my fantasies hide
A voyeur looking in
To catch a glimpse of my dreams
Dressed in pretty lace
Waiting for gentle fingers to untie
The satin strings that bind
To uncover the beauty within
Is that why read?

Why do you read me?
Is it to read what others have penned
In appreciation
In commendation
To see what the one you love
May have left me as precious gift
A heart full of longing
For the praise given to me
Wondering, wondering
What he sees in my simple poetry
Is that why you read?

Why do you read me?
Is it because you are a friend
And not matter what I may write
Be it worthless or divine
You will cheer me on
Wanting me to know
That your love reaches me
That your cyber eyes can see
Beyond my insatiable desire
For self-expression
The woman behind the words
In need of camaraderie
A sweet company
A friendly touch of love
And kiss of sympathy
Is that why you read?

I wish, I hope, I dream
That you read me
Because you find....

A little bit of your life redefined
A little bit of your cares expressed
A little bit of your heartache shared
A little bit of your joy celebrated
A little bit of your fear dissipated
A little bit of your fantasy explored
A little bit of your love elevated

A little bit of you
And your amazing hue
Enmeshed in the lines
In my simple rhymes
Your and my soul combined
Living and breathing
In my poetry
In the core
Of my words
Inside of me
An encapsulated moment
Of eternity....

No-one who writes the above could ever be called mediocre. Flowery, who wants that when they can read the raw passion that fill your writes. Ah yes, The Hurricane surging that sea to tumultuous pounding, surging free spirited. Is that why I read you? Take care, Richard

Richard..........I do thank you, from the bottom of my little orchid heart. This is very very kind of you. Teasing aside.....thank you for being generous in your praise. I needed to read this and know that my poetry is being appreciated. The reasons you gave, are the very reasons why I write....the very ones. Thank you

I read you so: I see the world through your eyes, feel the beats of your heart, hear the sounds you hear, think the thoughts in your mind and live your hopes and fears in that way I can understand you, understand another human being and learn from your experiences and knowledge and by doing so I may come to know myself better and most of all I read you because you are my friend and I care! I hope dear Eileen, all these reasons enough to be for an answer!

I don't read you because of the reasons you list in your second last verse. I'm not that eloquent or deep. I simply read you because I like your poetry. Lose that first verse, girlfriend. It stinks. Hugs. Licia :-)

I read you because your words coat my day with a delicious aura of focus, heart, & reflection. Your words & actions go beyond a sincerity that some need to take a lesson on...both on & offline. Stay true.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww...........You are too good to me, Drake! Thanks ever so much! I do so appreciate your support....especially when I'm down. You bring sunlight and warmth!

The first stanza should be rewritten as there is no truth in it. The rest is exceptional and filled with artistry. I am compelled to read your words. You are a tsunami of magnificence and your words demand expression. You lack the knowledge of what a tremendous gift you have been given. The first verse dishonors that talent, try to see yourself from the eyes of the One who gave you your gift!

Thanks, Richard......You are kind to me. My first place in your contest was a highlight in my time here. I will treasure it, especially because it was sponsored by one of my absolute favorite poets of all time...you.

Despite struggling you have produced some amazing work. I would not put to much stock in where you place in contests, your talent is undeniable.

It's Ok, RIck...I needed to hear that. Don't worry about being harsh. I can take it from you because I know you are genuine and sincere. "Wounds from a friend can be trusted." So says the Word. Thanks for your generous comment here. I just feel sometimes that my work is going nowhere...I think the fact that I didn't place or did poorly in contests sponsored by people I care about has shaken me up some.... :( I've been struggling here on PS for a bit...I think you've noticed that. We will see how long I can keep going on here.

I reread my comment and the last part comes accross as harsh which is not my intention. I just want you to see how truly marvelous and gifted you are.
