Why Are You Surprised?

It shouldn't be a surprise___
Set your feelings aside and open your eyes
Forget the name, title, or years you share
Sometimes the truth hurts, so be prudent and coat your heart with care___

Cain did the unthinkable to Abel
It's in the 'good book' for a reason, a poignant parable
Joseph with his 'coat of many colors '
Who could fathom such hatred from his own brothers?
But it happened then and it happens today
So don't be dismayed if or when it comes your way
Please, please never be surprised
Just make sure to realize and see with real eyes
