Why Am I Me
Why am I me? Now, that is the question,
It sure needs some thought and deep expression,
Sometimes I think I’d be a butterfly,
It has varied colours and it can fly…
Or why can’t I be that orange goldfish?
Gossamer fins to swim is all I wish…
Or maybe that deer with feet so agile,
Then maybe my mind wouldn’t feel so fragile…
Why am I not you? Why am I not her?
Oh yes, such stray thoughts do sometimes occur,
I am me because I have a purpose,
Fashioned for God’s glory, am not worthless…
The LORD’s image I bear, His child I be,
So I just thank Him for making me ME.
