Who's Crazy

I see you out there walking
And talking to yourself
What do you do and who do you talk to
When there's clearly no one around

Do you have a load of friends
Imaginary along the way for company sake
To keep the conversation flowing
Something crazy you'd like to say

In the dead of winter
Wearing shoes with no socks
In the coldest of weather
Like that Talking Heads song

I even see you on the corner
In your pacing back and forth
Giving someone a piece of what you have left
For all that you are worth

I sit in my car and contemplate
Where you and I, we both are at
I can count true friends on my one hand
As you count the many inside your head

And who is the happiest of the two
Me or you with the stress of life
If you stop to think about
Who is really out of their mind...

I've been watching this guy for months walking the streets just a rambling and finally got up the nerve to pull over and offer him some money so he could get something to eat or whatever. (never once did I see him out begging, I just figured it was a good ice breaker) I was amazed at how clear, coherent and thankful he was. It just got me to thinking about each of our journeys and where it has and where it is taking us. But also how we on that journey can stop for just that one moment and interact with each other. He changed my way of thinking that day and perhaps I his. And after all...aren't we all a little bit crazy?

You might have been the only one that had the nerve/curiosity/sympathy to talk to the poor crazy acting man; we need more people like you Mike!~Che :)

A great poem! We are all strangers until we open up. Bless you in your endeavor to see others and see how we all fit in to the puzzle called life.

What a great poem that makes people think and your message at the end reaches the heart. You have shown the kindness we should all follow. Well done Mike.
