Who Are They
In an effort to make us old folks gay
They say seventy is the new sixty
I’m forced to ask you, who are ‘they’?
And who made ‘they’ the authority?
When they say sixty is the new fifty
How many of them need glasses to read?
And just how many of them are sixty?
How much more of this drivel will they feed?
What they mean is you’re as old as you feel
Well, some of us feel as old as we look
I’m over seventy, that is what’s real
And I know just how much living that took!
I will embrace life regardless of time
Even though four is my new dinnertime!
