Who am I
Who am I?
Once I was a man, working in my field
Thinking of comfort, what comfort it would yield.
I was working hard, from early early dawn
Until the nightfall, when all the lights were gone.
In my bed at night, I dreamt of the sky
I changed into bird, I broke the cage to fly.
I flew in my dream, thinking of extreme
Searching to find love, making life supreme.
I stretched both my wings, dreaming of spring
Dancing in the sky, learning how to sing.
In my dream as a bird, my day turned to night
I slept on a tree, dreaming with no fright.
On a tree that night, I dreamt of a man
Sleeping in his bed, dreaming all he can
That man left his mark, from morning until dark
Got tired of his pain, he fell asleep in park.
He slept again so fast, to escape from his past
One more dream of joy, hoping to see at last.
He changed again in rage, to bird that flew from cage
Drunken from morning dew, garden became his stage.
Until he fell asleep, once more as bird so deep
He dreamt again as man, who cries himself to sleep.
I know you’re confused, or maybe a bit amused
Perhaps I am that bird or man that is confused.
