Who Am I

Who am I?
 What do I need from you?
 You could start by acknowledging I exist.
 You could stop trifling with me.
 You could take me serious.
    I am not background noise.
    I am something to cherish.
    For I am the promise of a better today.
    I am the urge to move beyond your past.
    I am the trust two lovers feel.
    I am the belief that anything can be accomplished.
    I am the dream you have for a better life.
    I am the spirit of great words yet unsaid.
    I am the possibility of great deeds yet undone.
    I am the vow you take to make other people stronger.
    I am the anticipation a young child feels.
    I am the chance to do what is meaningful.
So who am I?
    I am all these things
           And more.
    I am... what you want to be.
    I am hope.
    I am opportunity.
    I am the beginning of each new day.
