Whitney
The soul we have a season stays
The act upon the stage
A measured moment its line plays
None against the curtain rage
But you were silent still
A long time before the curtain fell
Was it the wind that whipped your will
Or was it the tragedy some say dwell
Under the skin of the young and great
Or was it some doom that make us soar
Knowing tragedy stalks genius like fate
And the black life is its open door
What shall I say for now that you are gone
The pain is over for you
But for us who love the sorrow dawn
And midnight comes without you
