Whistling Swan

Met her in June of 1969,
love was in the air,
that lovely day of my life,
I could see right away,
that she was a whistling swan.

Our love touched us,
with such passion
as I had never known,
we would talk until
the dawn of day
for she was
my dear whistling swan.

We walked down Grand Avenue
through down town Des Moines Iowa,
everyone could see, we were clearly
in love, as two never could be or
ever would be, my lovely dear
whistling swan.

She I later found out had a
voice that could lift any song,
to the heavens so high,
to hear her sing, touched my heart
to listen to my whistling swan.

Many years have passed
since the day we first met,
we have had our troubles,
many times, I thought we were through,
but she has stayed with me,
still loving my dear,
whistling swan.

Such a warm and gentle tribute. Love the mental image of a whistling swan, so endearing. Well done. Regards Heidie

Oh, such a very beautiful tribute to your wife. Took me back to those days when our love was new, too. So happy to read you are still together. Those of us who have such love are truly blessed. And she can sing! Such a gift for both of you. A loving poem. Love, Shar
