Whispers of Your Soul
My sons, sometimes, have lost their way
And ask for help in re-establishing their goals
I tell them, “I cannot set you straight
You should listen to the whispers of your soul”
My daughter, sometimes, suffers heartbreak
And cries on my shoulder hoping I can console
I tell her, “I have no words to ease your pain
You should listen to the whispers of your soul”
My friends, sometimes, question their faith
Having a hard time believing what they’ve been told
I tell them, “Answers don’t come from someone else
You should listen to the whispers of your soul”
My wife, sometimes, fears the end
Lamenting the fact that we’ve grown so old
I tell her, “I have no wisdom about what comes next
You should listen to the whispers of your soul”
My soul has often whispered to me
That the best advice I could ever give
Is after being there to hear them out
Tell them their soul knows how they should live
