Whiskey And Poetry
Another night of that
special blend
Poetry and whiskey
my long lost friend
A truth that don’t knock
but stumbles in
Spilling my ink, yeah I know
how this ends
Ice hits the glass
with a familiar clink
That hypnotic sound
making me think
As my fingers grasp
that cold hard drink
Each sip I take, brings me closer
to the brink
Burning different as it slides
down proud
Spilling out things I’d never
say out loud
Words forgotten maintained
in a shroud
Now those feeling released
in the crowd
Making truths slide
in wanting to exist
Tasting like secrets
I shouldn’t admit
Yet the story will be told
with words legit
Whiskey lowers walls
making me submit
So I sip real slow,
letting that burn stay
Feel it move thru words,
of what I’ll say
Let my ghosts go
that were tucked away
Liquor making each one
want to play
My ink starts flowing,
I’m lost with no control
The lines read heavy
deep from my soul
Saying too much
yet staying so cold
Opening wounds
those ones of old
But the poetry cleans it up
like a pretty sin
Dressing the damage
letting beauty in
Lacing my scars
lovely from within
Making each word elegant
until the end
But don’t get it twisted
in the glaze
It’s not just a vibe
it’s survival in waves
Each line born from nights
I didn’t save
Every rhyme echos
I don’t say
So if I pass you the glass
don’t rush the sip
Weight’s in that smooth
so don’t trip
If I hand you a line
don’t play with it
That’s a part of my life,
it’s just a snip
