Whie You Were Sleeping
While you were sleeping , I was awake
Watching you sleep.
Your deep even breathing,
Your perfect snoring,
The rise and fall of your chest
Making the hairs on it come alive.
While you were sleeping
I was watching
Watching the play of the veins
In your throat,
Your silken eyelashes
Curl on your cheeks.
Watching you sigh and frown
And suddenly smile,
The smile which brightens up
The dark silent night.
While you were sleeping
I was watching
Watching you grope in the dark
For me and finding me there
You go back in the world of dreams.
Looking at you sleeping
Gave me the contentment and security
I close my eyes and
Put my arms around you,
Ready for the journey
Journey to the dreamland,
Safe and sound with my loved one.
