Which One do you love more?
Which One Do You Love More?
“Mom…
which one do you love more?”
You ask it like my heart
has a favorite corner,
like I keep a secret list
of who comes first.
But how could I possibly choose
between the boy who made me a mother,
and the boy who made me realize
just how strong a mother can be?
How could I choose
between two brothers
who grew up beside me,
who made me laugh,
made me worry,
made me proud,
and occasionally made me wonder
if I was raising children
or tiny criminals?
And then there's my girl
my youngest,
my little firecracker,
my no filter,
say it like it is,
“I'm basically Mom”
mini me.
Three children.
Three completely different souls.
My oldest son
will always hold the beginning
of my motherhood.
The one who taught me
what it meant to love someone
more than myself.
My middle son
came with lessons
I never expected to learn.
He showed me courage,
strength,
and how fiercely
a mother can fight
for her child.
And then came my daughter
my final chapter,
my little spitfire,
the one who somehow inherited
my attitude
without even asking permission.
You each have your own place
in my heart.
Not a bigger place.
Not a smaller place.
Your own place.
Because love isn't something
I have to divide between you.
I don't love my oldest
one third.
My middle son
one third.
And my daughter
one third.
That's not how this works.
When you were born,
my heart didn't get divided.
It grew.
Every one of you
gave me a different kind of love.
Different memories.
Different challenges.
Different laughter.
Different reasons
to be proud.
You have each given me
moments that belong
only to us.
So when you ask,
“Which one do you love more?”
My answer will always be:
None of you.
Because I don't love one of you more.
I love each of you
with everything I have.
My first boy.
My second boy.
My baby girl.
Three children.
Three personalities.
Three stories.
Three pieces of my life
that somehow became
my entire heart.
And someday,
when you're grown
and life gets busy
and you wonder
if Mom still thinks about you
just remember this:
There was never a favorite.
There was never a competition.
There was never a limit
to how much love
I had for you.
I had one heart.
And somehow,
the three of you
filled every inch of it.
My sons.
My daughter.
My greatest chaos.
My greatest joy.
My forever loves.
I wouldn't choose one of you
if you gave me a thousand lifetimes.
I'd choose all three.
Every single time.
