Which Came First

Which came first, the poet or the poetry? It is an age old question echoed throughout the Halls of Rhyme In Time– In the meadows of Free Verse, no predetermined scheme, was it the poet or dream? I awaken: take pen in hand...the shell of me or the yoke? It is the same old poke, whether to write from the outside in or the inside soak? Ah—yes! Which came first, the reason or the toke? Some say it was the word that first spoke; while others far deeper into the joke say that the poet would speak even if he or she never spoke – Ah, yes! Which came first, the beef on the rib or the poet born to write or poetry born to live?

I think we often speak of the Muse, not really admitting that, it is spiritual manifestation. Not just a poetic term. Thank you again, Darlene. Have a wonderful day!
