Whereto Summer

Idle play
Lazy day
  Drifting hours
  While away

Dip a toe
In the stream
  How faint the breeze
  'Tis but a dream

Summer stretches
Endless limbs
  Eternity's waters
  'Neath Sunshine's rim

Daytime fades
Yields night's dark shade
  Lone songster croons
  Melancholy tunes

Linger no more
Fleet tidings of yore
  Lure nevermore
  Painted whore

Whereto fled the magic
That summertime was
  Where doth reside
  Its Wizard of Oz

Makes me feel I'm in the idle days of summer already - Very evocative!

Thank you, Michelle. Funny how a mind works, isn't it? Here we are waiting on Spring and Summer---and I'm writing about Summer taking its leave...Go figure!...Your kind words are much appreciated. Best wishes to you and yours, Gershon
