Where the Wind Goes
The wind has taken all away,
but where the wind goes - who can say?
Perhaps it whirls to heaven's gate—
or back to when it's not too late,
and carries with it all that's lost,
restores to whole what's dashed and tossed.
But this is just a wish, I know,
and not the way winds always blow.
More likely, heaven is the place
I'll have to reach to see your face,
since whirl and wind have swept away
what here, on earth, could never stay.
