Where the Waves Break
I want to run away
To run far, far away
To run and run and run and run and run
To where life can’t touch me
To where love can’t hurt me
To where image won’t shape me
To where my demons can’t reach me
I want to find that paradise
That fairy tale in my mind of mystical lands
Where the sky is the limit and only you can decide what to do
I want to run away
Run far, far away
To run and run and run and run and run
To where the only pressure you face is from the weather
To where you can truly love yourself
I want to run
For the end only to come where the waves break and the children run free
I want to run free
Free from the chaos and pain
Free from the judgment and isolation
Free from me
Free from that part of me that whispers, “You’re not good enough.”
Free from society
I want to find that fairy tale land
And when I do
Finally
I shall stand
