Pothos (Epipremnum aureum) is called Devil's Ivy because it is incredibly difficult to kill and can thrive in near-total darkness, or, as joked about in gardening, it is "hard to kill, like the devil". Its extreme hardiness, rapid growth, and ability to survive neglect allow it to thrive where other plants would die.
