Where Should I Go
Where Should I Go
Where should I go to find myself
When others have taken their part?
Where should I find the rest of me?
Where should the looking start?
In the quiet of the trees on the hillside,
If quiet is still to be found?
On the cool, damp floor of the forest,
Where there isn’t any sound?
And what will I find
From the scraps left behind?
Who do you think I will see?
Where should I go to find myself?
When will the time be right?
In the light of the day when all can see
Or the darkness of the night?
How will I know the hour,
Which minute or second to go?
What if I go too quickly,
Or what if I go too slow?
And what if I find
That the shreds left behind
Are not what I wanted to see?
Where should I go to find myself
Or should I be looking at all?
What if the person who’s waiting for me
Won’t answer me when I call?
What if the one I am looking for
Decided they just couldn’t wait,
And left a shrivelled, empty shell
Because I arrived too late?
There’d be nothing to see,
For it just isn’t me,
But a soul that is totally free.
