Where, O' Where Baby Did You Hide That Key

Where, O' Where Baby Did You Hide That Key

Where, O' where baby did you hide that key
THAT UNLOCKS THIS RUSTY CHAIN HOLDING ON ME
Is behind shadows in yesterday's floor
OR THERE FAR AWAY ON SOME FOREIGN SHORE
Baby, baby, would it make me love feel
THAT LIFE AND YOUR KISS COULD BE MY NEXT MEAL?

Where, O' where baby did you hide that key
THAT UNLOCKS THIS RUSTY CHAIN HOLDING ME

Where, O' where baby did you hide that key
THAT UNLOCKS THIS RUSTY CHAIN HOLDING ME
Is it down in that hidden farmhouse well
OR JUST BEYOND THE FLAMING GATES OF HELL
Baby, baby, would it make me deny
YOUR BEAUTY WAS THE SOFT BLUE IN THE SKY?

Where, O' where baby did you hide that key
THAT UNLOCKS THIS RUSTY CHAIN HOLDING ME

Angel, Angel, Stir Again Sweet Love Lost

Memory, the ghost of a lost love, a vision
A vixen, a visionary, a heartbeat
When youth bellowed, with vapid imprecisions
And life greedily swallowed all it could eat-

The night, the sky, the moon,
the angel with flaming sword
The song, the love, the tune
Rampaging of malevolent world's angry horde

Angel, angel, stir again sweet love lost,
Send dawn's new glory and tenderest kiss
Pray I this, I care not the heavy cost
For now, she and love I so dearly miss-

In my anguish, sorrows did her heart crush,
All taken away by my heartless greed
I then acted in a maddening rush
To satisfy one of my worldly needs

She that was sweet and truly there for me
Her soul pure and her heart beating so true
I in my blindness poisoned love's tree
In my error now receive what I am due-

This I beg, mercy be given to me
True redemption cast from a hand divine
Perhaps a healing to set us both free
New romance to our stars again align.

Note- After a two week break, I decided to write today
to present something on my homepage here.
And again stir the stew, cook the meal- dine again on
poetry and give thanks that blessing found me..

Sounds to me like a love that was not really returned. Just someone who used your love for their own enjoyment and when they tired of it that was the end of it. Sad and bittersweet but a love like that needs to be let go so you can find a better one. Great job here. God Bless, JB

Thank you my friend. I wrote it with a song in mind. A sad truth and a youthful experience that left a lesson learned. God bless..

Robert, your first poem sounds to me like a song. The second is sad but beautiful. I enjoyed reading both. Blessings Connie

Thank you my friend. First one was started as a lyric poem but morphed into a sonnet. I thought it a creative way to lock down the memory--the point being made.. God bless..

Your - "Burnt Aqua" poem provided the catalyst and the energy that set the wind that blew the sails propelling ship across a new ocean. I always note when a poem so moves me, stirs my muse and gifts that blessing... As such only seems right to me.. God bless...

You have got that right- that key was melted in the fires of a youthful - "you are just too damn wild boy".. As too inspiration- it is a wonderful thing- it comes in on its own and cries out- write, write, write -right- now. The words fly in that the heart, soul and mind must open on up tp keep it all coming. Else it vanished like a lightning strike. I do not play the vitriol game- feel very sorry for those that do my friend. God bless

The second one is a winner, very much so. It is rather satisfying, like dining on a stunning meal and imbibing the best of fine wine, when poets find inspiration from each other, rather than swallowing vast oceans of vitriol. Keep writing your wonderful tomes Lindley. I feel very privileged that Burnt Aqua inspired in some way. It's a gift, the transformation - from death, rebirth.
