Where Love Lies Unspoken

Where does love lie unspoken?
I have asked the quiet earth
pressed my ear to soil and root,
waited for an answer in the darkened birth
of something yet unseen.

But all I hear is stillness
in the midst of crowded bloom
like a forest full of breathing things
that cannot name the room
where longing takes its shape.

I do not hear the language
that the wild things seem to know
the hush between two branches
when the softened winds blow slow,
the unspoken understanding
of the river and the shore.

I do not see the presence
my spirit searches for
no shadow cast beside me
in the amber of the day,
no echo in the twilight
that would bid my heart to stay.

There is a hollow clearing
deep within my chest,
where something waits like fertile ground
unbroken, yet unrest
a place prepared for blooming
that has never felt the rain.

There is a heart once weathered,
split like earth in drought and strain,
that aches for gentle seasons,
for a hand it cannot claim.

You are somewhere in the distance,
like a star the trees conceal
felt in every shifting current,
yet never something real.

I long for you like mountains
long for rivers at their feet,
like roots that stretch through darkness
just to find the rain they seek.

I wish to be the swan at dawn,
adrift on mirrored light,
all grace upon the water’s skin,
untouched by fear or fright.

I wish to be the serpent too,
who knows the sacred ground
who sheds its skin in quiet truth
without a single sound.

To be both soft and knowing,
both the seen and hidden flame
to be the one your spirit finds
before it speaks my name.

But I am only standing
where the wild things grow unseen,
learning love from petals
and the spaces in between.

And still… you do not know me.

But somewhere in the breathing world,
beyond what words could ever show

love lies unspoken…
and already knows.
