Notes About The Poem

Where Joy and Sorrow Blend

So many years before have since flown by...
     back then so young...but seniors now are we;
and here are friends I view with tearful eye,
     yet thankful some are still left here with me.

My high school yearbook is online to share;
     I scan each page, remember each dear face.
But, there are those who climbed that special stair...
     at peace with God...perhaps a better place.

I read the names these photos yet define,
     of friends whom I'm so happy are still here,
along with those who had to cross that line...
     I'm caught between a smile and falling tear.

My love, I send to every precious friend...
     here in this yearbook...joy and sorrow blend.
