Notes About The Poem

Where Has My Spirit Gone - M

Where has my Spirit Gone
My spirit has disappeared from the room Can someone assist me to find it soon The lights gone from life, only dark days loom I can’t stop feeling this desolate gloom. It was when heaven came knocking the door Though it went away I'm left insecure Wasn't me called for, twas the one I live for Still here by my side, but my heart's so sore. Once I was jolly, now I'm always sad I aim to find the spirit I once had Because the worry is driving me mad I must seek to find my souls launching pad. To lift my spirit from up off the ground To become someone ace to be around I do realise how all this must sound And need to jump on the merry-go- round. I believe the soul and spirit are one That's there from the first day that life's begun We all have a spirit guide, it's someone Who's there for all under the rising sun. I pledge to listen to the spirit guide With both my heart and my mind gaping wide Perchance to dream I may turn back the tide To stride o'er the earth with bountiful pride. When sorrow comes and disturbs earthly peace One's heart's heavy laden, there's no release Day after day the torments never cease By night the nightmares are on the increase. I wish to embrace gifts blessed at one’s start With jubilant spirit and songs in heart.

Belle, I'm aware your husband is ill and from comments below I sense there are sadly ongoing difficulties too. I'm not going to pretend I know how it all feels because I don't. I just want to say that reading the real, deep and heartfelt words in your excellent poem I feel your expressed concern, pain, upset and love for your husband. I sincerely hope things improve for both of you and good luck in the contest. Cheers - Gary

Gary, thank you so much your kind words are comforting, though we, same as most everyone has gone through difficult times in the past nothing has been as bad as my husband having had sepsis, three months in hospital and twice being close to me losing him. It’s a very slow recovery and hard for us both to cope, but we’ll get there eventually, we hope and pray. Thanks also for the good wishes. Regards, Belle

I'm confused. Truth or fiction. I know your husband was sick but I have not heard any news. Otherwise I loved the poem. Best for a win.

Enjoyed, even though I do not understand why people fear being alone. Aloha!

That is indeed frustrating - over any loved one - to see them suffer and feel helpless! Wishing you better luck than I had! Aloha!

Thank you Rico, it’s not fear of being alone that causes my anxiety and distress, it’s seeing all the suffering my husband is going through. Maloha! Belle

Thank you Deb, I know I’m not on my own we all have our traumas to bear, this is the worst it’s ever been for us, though I still believe we’ll get through it all at the end of the storm… Belle x

You rose well to the challenge Belle, we often feel abandoned when things aren't going our way. Hope both you and Alan are OK. Tom

Thank you Tom, we’re ok most of the time, still getting set backs and it’s difficult for both of us to cope with it all… Belle
