Where do dear friends go?

Right after Teddy finds a shelf, Embryonic, soul-discovered Comrades, introduce new rich textures. Pondering gone epochs, past yields of buddying, Genuine, sounded, grounded. Twelve seasons at first. Eleven years this time; Twenty before that. Earliest mates graduate, dispersing as their promise seeks testing unique. Bitter truth: mortals pass. Not an adieu of their choosing. Dark threshold ever looming. A predictable measure melt away, walking with purpose, Seeking fresh bondings. Finally exhausted, too often offended, stale history revived in legendary tales repeated. Association peaks. A lucky few characters Married away from connection Bound upon a new conjugal course. Intruding ebb tides reveal retreating Serendipitous memory ticks. Melancholy recalled, reflected. Rare cronies' endurance transcends Lifespans exacting iron fortitude To bridge 30,000 days. Old pals, dearies, poseurs: Saplings to heritage oaks, Longing remembers well.

Dear Arlo, some friendships evolve and dissolve over a few months, years, decades.. but some special few friendships last a lifetime. Your creative expression shines in your thought-provoking poem. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

I grew up moving at least once a year sometimes more often... leaving friendships behind to make new ones. But there were always those special friends who stuck no matter what! More like family now. Your poem gives us a lot to think on and ponder! I love thee way you've formatted and didn't really form sentences just thoughts...xo

My work begs to inform. I always want my reader to invest three read-thru's to form an opinion. Pondering is a terrific word to invoke when talking poetry. :o))

This poem is a work of art! A few good friends support me, Arlo. Since I am old like Santaa Claus! Death has taken many friends away. I also trust way too much. I am still naïvely far too trusting . See! Your poem is powerful. Thanks. Pangie

it's nice to read a free verse from you, and a good one at that (i notice you've removed a lot of your other poems btw?) i'm careful who i let into my life for various reasons, but if someone makes a friend of me i'm a loyal friend and will always have that person's back..i'm still in touch with an old schoolfriend, we've been friends since we were seven! true friendship can last a lifetime

Trust is a seminal part of relationship. We've reached that level of simple, profound, genuine, faithful trust. All the best, Mi Amiga. :o))

Yeah, so true. Not a single one of my childhood or teenage "friends" have remained connected. I'm sure I'm partly to blame
