Where Are We Going

"a journey of a
thousand miles
begins with one
step . . ."
lao tzu

was born into innocent purity
as I grew I played with kittens and dolls
life became confusion, obscurity
I faced brick walls, crawling through life with falls

have known submission, motherhood, and grief
the need to escape this turmoil of life
full of emotions floating like a leaf
oh, life does cut like a very sharp knife

journey of enlightenment, tradition,
clashing, the need for material things
giving self a letting go permission
just saying no to unwanted that clings

living life well, happy, resigned and calm
seeking the great beyond through bible psalm

Constance, this is a thought-provoking introspective. Your epigraph by Lao Tzu is something we all need to remind ourselves of from time to time. The line "giving self a letting go permission ..." especially resonated with me. Easier said than done! The last two lines are so true. Enjoyed.

Dear Constance, What a wonderful journey through life and I loved the ending that we need to seek the great beyond through Bible and Psalms. You lifted my spirits today! - Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel
